09.12.1988 СРТМ "За Родину" вышел из Балтийска и следовал на промысел. На переходе с ним столкнулся военный корабль СКР-769. В результате столкновения траулер получил пробоину в районе машинного отделения и вскоре затонул в точке с координатами 55°22' северной широты и 19°43' восточной долготы. Экипаж был спасён военными моряками.
