Макет быстроходного корабля с гидролькой и на суперкавитирующих подводных крыльях. Командиром ОК был назначен капитан 3 ранга Рыбянов Василий Иванович, старшим механиком капитан-лейтенант Махарадзе Ф.И., штурманом-боцманом был Гнездилов Доля Алексеевич. 16 августа 1959 года на одном из выходов в море ОК «Смерч» развил скорость небывалую для того времени – 107 узлов.
