11 апреля 2012 года судно частично затонуло у причала в Авачинской бухте. Спасательным службам пришлось восстанавливать его плавучесть, после чего «Тихон Семушкин» был отбуксирован к м. Сигнальному, где простоял еще почти 2 года. В 2014 году началась его разделка в бухте Моховой.
