30 мая 2009 года произошло возгорание в машинном отделении стоящего на якоре в южной части Онежского озера теплохода «Невский-17». Пострадало 5 человек.
В 2018 году переименовано в честь Владимира Алексеевича Басманова (1949-2017) — первого директора АО «Борремфлот» с 1985 по 1998 г.
В межнавигационный период 2023-2024 гг. была проведена модернизация в Криушах (Ульяновская область) с увеличением длины на 18 метров
